How to Set Up Your Vending Machine

If you purchase a vending machine from a reputable company, it should come with the manufacturer’s User Manual/Operation Manual.  In some cases, these can be very user friendly and walk you step-by-step through the most common questions/issues you’re going to have with your machine. In other cases they can be very scientific and difficult to understand.  Make sure to read over your manual for the set-up instructions.  If your machine didn’t come with a manual, you can usually find these online by searching by the make and model.


Once you have your machine unpackaged, you’re going to want to move it with a pallet jack or utility dolly to the exact spot you’re going to place it in your location.

You will need a power strip with a surge protector to get the machine powered up at your location.  Once plugged in, most machines will start correctly up to automatically.  If your vending machine is refrigerated, you may need to adjust the thermostat.  Reference your Owner’s Manual for instructions on how to adjust the temperature.

Next, you’re going to want to choose your products and determine your prices. You’re going to want to enter the “Programming Mode” for your machine.  Follow the instructions on your user manual to do so.  The programming mode is where you program the prices for each product selection on your machine.  Set a price for each selection and then load your products into your machine. If you’ve purchased a credit card reader for your vending machine, you’ll need to call or email the manufacturer of the device to set up an account and get your unit ready to accept credit/debit card purchases.


Finally, you should conduct several test vends to make sure that everything is working properly on your machines. This will ensure proper functioning of the unit and prevent the machine from rejecting payment due to inability to produce change.  If everything checks out, then your machine is ready to start making money!

Mice In Vending Machine

I have a mice in my vending machine !

I visited one of my location 2 days ago and i was surprised why there are still a lot of snacks and chocolate bars inside the vending machine, i was very surprised because this is a monthly location and normally it is empty when visiting this location for the longest time that im servicing it.

I as usual goes through the machine and when i was checking everything,

i noticed that several chips had foil holes and the contents inside were all empty.

I immediately already suspected that this is done by a mice since i had 1 location also in the Vancouver area where this thing happened and the solution was to cover a hole which is about 1 to 2 inches in diameter where the electrical wire goes into the machine.

Normally all the vending machine has the electrical cord going into the machine covered with a rubber grommet

but in some cases when you have been moving and changing machines this rubber grommet is not secured into it’s original position.

I heard that there are locations when they hear that when your machine is contaminated by a mouse they wanted to remove completely as soon as possible and no one will be using it anymore, since it is not a joke when the machine contains some mice droppings and you will get contaminated with disease and the customers are just making sure that everything is good.

Bad Day At Work

When doing the vending machine business,

never force yourself to be in a hurry at the time, once you get into an accident it’s all over.

It is not worth your time and effort to earn a few dollars if you get injured. What is the purpose of earning money if you had an accident while you are in a hurry. I always remember in my childhood days when my mother tells me not to hurry up all the time and it is still very finely printed in my memory :

  • what is the use of money when you get into a car accident ? all the money in the world will not make you normal again
  • what is the use of money when you get into a motorcycle accident ? it might be too late to regret
  • if you are late in school then what is the big deal ? if you get into an accident would a late report in your school records affect you and your future well being ?

Whenever you are doing something just take in easy and sometimes you have to bend the rules and have to take care of yourself first before anything else, if you are late of an interview then maybe there is a bigger reason why you are late because you are cautious when driving to your destination.

If a bad day in work can be avoided

then you will still have the next day to go your vending location when your late in visiting just becuase you are extra careful when driving to that place, you just have to let go what people think about you and just do what is right.

In some extreme cases like you have been trying to go that particular location every other day but its a tough place since parking is very rare and when there is a vacant space the next u turn, someone else grab that precious spot. In your mind maybe its around $50 profit if you’d have done it but because you have to be careful to find a parking slot someone else got it ahead of you. If you are too fast without being in compsure you might get into a split second accidents which are too numerous to mention.

Well i am usually a very careful guy when doing my things

and everything is scheduled and organized but it was today that i had my bad work day when i was hurrying up to my van to go to the next location that was closing and was thinking maybe i can still make it on the next location or else i wont be coming to vancouver tomorrow and will be delayed after 2 days since the next day is for surrey and richmond locations.

With this in mind i think i would have to change my priorities and mindset again when getting things done. My suggestion to myself is just to take it easy and try to finish work when you are able to with the thought of being very cautious and careful.

It would be a suggestion that the divider painted in bright colors like yellow to avoid other people that might trip or fall.

It is absolutely my fault since i was in a hurry to get things done.

Society now is striving to make healthier eating habits and that includes what they buy from vending machines.  People want to know what they are eating, and laws are being enacted requiring companies to display nutritional facts on all food being sold.
